It should be noted that the organisations and services listed are entered by the organisations themselves and not by the County Council (except for those services run directly or commissioned by the County Council). This means that a service may exist in Staffordshire, but not be listed in Staffordshire Connects.
So far as we are aware, schools are free to register with the website and record any services that they may offer to parents and other professionals. Useful links in Staffordshire Connects:
According to Staffordshire County Council, there are two main purposes for this Graduated Response Toolkit:
to provide guidance to schools regarding meeting the needs of children/young people with SEND at the Graduated Response level of the SEND Code of Practice;
to provide guidance to the LA to aid decision making for Education Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) requests.
You can access the toolkit (which is on the County Council’s website) here.
SEND Code of Practice
This is a government document that provides guidance on the special educational needs and disability (SEND) system for children and young people aged 0 to 25, from 1 September 2014.
It is a statutory code which explains the duties of local authorities, health bodies, schools and colleges to provide for those with special educational needs.
